The Business Support Specialist VI will provide administrative support services for governmental functions to ensure continued operation to meet the mission’s requirements by providing personnel, budget, purchasing / acquisition and travel arrangement services, which support more than 100 scientists and management staff.

Job Requirements :

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Prepare purchase requests, co-operative agreements, and preparation of funding / de-obligation documents for contract agreements.
  • Assist with domestic travel authorization / voucher preparation, and forms routing. Including use of applicable Federal Government travel rules, regulations, and software;
  • Support administrative staff with office logistics, meetings, and receptionist duties;
  • Help timekeeper with bi-weekly time and attendance documentation, forms, reports and approval routing and filing;
  • Special account documentation : assist Center Administrative staff with special account filing, reporting, and all aspects of documentation.
  • Assist with credit card review and adjustment / bank statements :
  • Use specific computer software for credit card adjustment, budget management, reconciling credit card statements, maintaining credit card purchasing logs;
  • Assist with the review of bankcard statements, assure receipts are attached monthly and logs are current. Assist with data entry expenditure adjustments.
  • Supervisory / Management Authority :

  • This position does not have management authority or supervisory capacity
  • Education and / or Experience :

  • A two-year degree in Business, Finance or Accounting
  • A minimum of three (3) years of previous job experience which include administrative, acquisition, financial, accounting, or budget analysis focus;
  • preferably in a federal setting

  • A bachelors’ degree in Business Finance or Accounting is preferred
  • Experience with some accounting, financial and administrative duties as well as in the acquisition field is required
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Have working knowledge of electronic email and basic PC functions
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, Internet Explorer and web browsers
  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • The ability to stand at long periods of time and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Excellent critical thinking and communication skills; both oral and written
  • The ability to successfully pass a drug screen and background check is required
  • Work Environment :

  • This position is performed in a federal office environment with telecommute currently permitted due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions
