Classification: VP/Director of Finance
Compensation: $110000.00 to $130000.00 yearly
The Finance Manager is responsible for the financial reporting function of the company. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Finance Manager will oversee the accounting team, provide analysis, interpret results, and provide recommendations to improve financial performance of the Company. The Finance Manager will also report results both internally and externally.
•Oversee a team of 2 accountants.
•Oversee and manage all the accounting activities and tasks; Maintain weekly cash flow report, closely monitor AP and AR.
•Ensure time and accurate billing.
•Lead, mentor and train the finance team in their daily tasks, technical knowledge, and professional development.
•Develop strong working relationship with operations departments. Prepare monthly performance reports, with variance analysis and commentary.
•Maintain internal control and adhere to the company’s policies and procedures.
•Recommend and implement new processes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of team performance.
•Maintain banking relationships.
•Finance “go to person” for the CEO.
Monthly & Quarterly Reporting
•Prepare the monthly financial reporting package within 10 business days, including variance analysis, commentaries on actual vs. budget and updates to the financial forecast.
•Work with the senior accountant to ensure all month end procedures are completed including bank reconciliations, inventory reconciliation, intercompany billing, WIP balances.
•Correct and address unusual or unreconciled items on a timely basis.
•Prepare monthly capital call request, with supporting analysis.
•Prepare quarterly reporting package for the Board of Directors. Present quarterly results to Board.
Year End Reporting
•Prepare year-end financial statements, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and year end audit file.
•Ability to resolve complex accounting and audit matters, with assistance of outside auditors.
•Ensure the annual audit is completed within 120 days after the year end and on budget.
•Provide accurate information and timely assistance and resolve issues with the auditors.
Forecasting & Budgeting
•Developing and maintaining business/ pricing models for large customer
•Prepare annual budget.
•Develop and maintain company forecast, updating monthly.
•Maintain detail forecasts for supply and transportation division.
•Prepare cash flow projection for rolling 12 to 18 months; manage the company’s cash flows and working capital.
•Help assess business opportunities/ business development activities.
•Provide business decision support based on proper analysis and business intelligence.
•Prepare financial modeling/ pricing support for RFP.
•Prepare ad-hoc reports, as required.
Here’s What you Bring:
•Bachelor of Commerce with major in accounting, finance or equivalent
•Canadian CPA designation (CA, CGA, CMA and CPA) or equivalents preferred.
•Good knowledge of ASPE and Canadian tax is required.
•Financial modelling experience is required.
•Big 4 accounting firm experience would be an asset.
•Experience in transportation is an asset.
•Previous experience working with private equity firm would be an asset.
•Collaborative, team player. Willingness to roll up your sleeves are required.
•Strategic minded and curious with ability to understand all aspects of the business.
•Detail oriented and able to spot errors.
•Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task, handle changing/competing priorities and stressful situations are required.
•Experience and comfortable with working with an executive team/ Board of Directors.
•Strong written and oral communication skills.
•Effectively coach and mentor others
