Classification: Sr. Accountant
Compensation: $70000.00 to $80000.00 yearly
Our client, a Biotech company is looking for a project accountant. The Project Accountant who will be responsible in providing project-related accounting support and services to Clinical Manufacturing, Research & Development and Engineering. This position plays a key role in balancing the project requirements against project budget and spending. This role works in a consultative approach with Project Managers, Project Coordinators and other stakeholders.
Areas of Responsibility
• Support the day-to-day application of accounting principles for government grants & projects, including being responsible for claims, determining budgets variances and project forecasts. • Classify, record, and summarize data and timesheets for project accounts in ERP system in alignment with internal accounting procedures and relevant regulations during the project lifecycle from initiation to close-out. • Analyze, prepare, and communicate to relevant stakeholders on the financial performance of projects, and suggest ways to improve efficiency on project spending. • Prepare various project status reports and analysis as requested. • Audit, monitor and maintain project-related entries and documentation including contracts, modifications, holdbacks, expenditures, etc., for accuracy and completeness and to ensure project effectiveness and claims are maximized. • Audit and ensure project-related invoicing is processed accurately and in a timely manner. • Assist with SR& ED claims and working with different groups to collect documentation to justify claims and ensuring that the projects meet the requirement of CRA.Job RequirementsQualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or related field. • Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) designation a good to have! • Minimum 3 years of experience in project accounting; experience within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries a strong asset. • Experience working with ERP or equivalent accounting software packages. • Strong business and financial acumen. • Proven strong analytical / quantitative skills. • Strong communication skills (written and oral), as well as listening skills. • Proven experience building strong relationships with senior management, external providers, internal project members, and well any other relevant project stakeholders. • Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deliverables
