Product Engineer – Topographic Mapping

As a talented GIS professional, join a team of engineers creating software used by geospatial professionals in national mapping agencies around the world. As a Product Engineer on the Topographic Mapping development team, you will design, test, and document the software that provides the foundation for powerful data compilation, visualization, and analytics.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the product owner, other product engineers, and developers to create functional and workflow designs for geospatial data management, visualization, and cartographic software
  • Gather requirements from customer/stakeholder feedback to inform future versions of ArcGIS topographic mapping capabilities
  • Configure and deliver rules files that customize tool behavior based on customer specifications
  • Work with end users and partners to identify and design industry-specific GIS workflows
  • Collaborate with end users to understand how software can address their complex workflows and issues
  • Support test automation through scripting
  • Author tutorials and help content geared towards end users to aid in deployment of topographic mapping capabilities

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience supporting commercial software development
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • A passion for quality, detail orientation, and a desire to improve products
  • A self-motivated team player with an interest in continuous learning
  • Bachelor's in GIS, information technology, computer science, or a related field (master's preferred)

Recommended Qualifications:

  • Experience using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Portal, ArcGIS Enterprise, and/or ArcGIS Online
  • Experience with requirement gathering and documenting to enhance existing software
  • Experience with designing, documenting, and executing functional test plans
  • Hands-on experience with geoprocessing and Python scripting within GIS work
  • Strong familiarity with the administration of enterprise geodatabase concepts and objects
  • Experience as a user with an RDBMS, such as Oracle, SQL Server, etc.
