Our Victoria area construction client is seeking an Accountant to join their growing team.
Reporting to the Controller, the Accountant will be their right hand in this busy organization – success at this level could lead to a leadership career path as they continue to grow.
The Accountant will be responsible for the following:
Monthly Financial Statements to the Controller for review
P& L – Overall and by division. Variance month to month.
Ensure accuracy of Bank, VISA, and employee expense statement reconciliation.
Ensure accuracy when balancing A/R and A/P to General Ledger
Ensure accuracy when WIP is being recorded monthly
Year-End Statements and Annual Filings
Assist in compiling year end documentation for the External Accountant
Enter all Year-End Journal Entry adjustments
Credit & Collections
Review Weekly with A.R:
Responsible for creating and adhering to a firm credit policy for all businesses.
80% current on Accounts Receivable, collecting any Receivables late per agreed terms with customer.
Support business to determine when to file LIEN’s and support that process
Managing Cash Flow
Approving all AP cheque runs prior to processing
Complete 60-day cash flow projection
Establishes policies and procedures with enforcement and monitoring.
Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees, following up on work results.Job Requirements
The ideal candidate will have experience in a construction or project based environment – where tracking Work in Progress WIP is key. A designation is not a requisite however if you are pursuing, this will be supported by the company. Experience working with an ERP system is required as well as strong Excel, interpersonal and communication skills.
