The Washington Post is hiring a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer for our internally developed Circulation Management system. Circulation Management supports the full lifecycle of our print subscription business – managing customers, financial transactions, delivery logistics and integration with a variety of internal and customer facing applications. We are looking for a self-motivated engineer with a conscientious mentality and a relentless commitment to quality and stability. In this role, your contributions would directly support a wide variety of stakeholders who rely on this system to get the paper out everyday and serve one of our most valuable customer bases – print subscribers.

Responsibilities

• Build dynamic new features across both the front-end and the back-end of the application.
• Refactor and improve the stability of the current application codebase.
• Analyze and optimize large data sets and queries to support business processes and reporting needs
• Support and make improvements upon the application’s cloud-based infrastructure.
• Work directly with product managers and stakeholders from Accounting, Marketing, Customer
• Service and Circulation staff to translate business requirements into robust features and technical tasks.
• Serve in an on-call capacity.

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, equivalent field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• Strong understanding of client-side scripting and javascript frameworks such as React and Angular
• Proficiency in at least one server side programming language; Node, Java, C#, Ruby, Go or Python.
• Excellent communication, documentation and presentation skills for technical and business audiences
• Knowledge of DevOps technologies such as Docker and Jenkins.
• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) such as S3, ECS, EC2, and CloudWatch.
• Comfortable working with relational databases such as MySQL.
• Experience writing unit and integration tests to ensure code quality.
• Experience in agile software development teams and working iteratively with designers, product managers, and stakeholders.
• Practical working experience within logistics/supply chain management or financial billing is desired but not required

Lead in the team effort to design, develop, code, test and debug complex software that CenturyLink is building to create a ordering flow using Salesforce, Vlocity and existing implementation. Lead review of input for documentation of new or existing software. Apply existing and introduce new and approved technologies to develop solutions. This role will be engaged in all aspects of development life cycle from requirement review, design, coding, testing and deployment. Lead others in the application of principles, theories and concepts and use of methodologies, tools, documentation processes and test procedures to complete projects.

In this role, you will:

• Partner in an agile SCRUM team environment to be able to design, develop, code, test and debug new software to build ordering flow.
• Work closely with business partners and technical staff to create technical solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
• Apply principles, theories and concepts and use methodologies, tools, documentation processes and test procedures to complete projects related to moderately complex software.
• Coordinate and partner with business teams and other IT teams inside and outside of the organization to identify and manage dependencies and deliverables, meeting client expectations.
• Use Agile/Scrum methodologies to deliver best-in-class feature delivery for applications.
• Attend daily stand-ups, sprint planning sessions, and retrospectives, and required ceremonies to plan, track, and code development tasks.
• Translate simple to complex user stories into functional and actionable software. Create visual representations of logical business processes using Visio or other open-source design tools.
• Estimates timeline for assigned tasks and ensure that work is completed with the estimate given.
• Provides leadership in the development and implementation of short- and long-term technology plans and related policies and procedures.
• Deliver projects on time and with the highest quality.
• Provide support for business users questions, problem resolutions and research requests.
• Prioritize and handle multiple concurrent projects and efforts.
• Accountability for successfully completing assignments or tasks; making clear, specific commitments to deliver results.

Qualified Candidates will have:

• Typically 10+ years professional experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and experience and 8+ years with a Master’s Degree.
• 5+ years experience with customization on the Salesforce Lightning platform.
• 2+ years experience with Vlocity CPQ specific implementations.
• 2+ years experience with programming Languages – APEX, Visualforce.
• 2+ years experience with Salesforce.com APEX data loader.
• Experience with Lightning Design System framework, Apex, Apex data loader.
• Experience with declarative platform tools (Visual Workflow, Process Builder, Lightning App Builder, etc.)
• Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as Angular JS, React, etc.
• Experience in one or more of the following programming languages: Java, C++
• Experience with Agile software development lifecycles.
• Practical knowledge of Java, HTML, Open Source development tools.
• Strong people skills–Effective communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
• Training or experience which demonstrates familiarity with Agile and SCRUM methodologies.
• Ability to work in a highly collaborative and empowered environment.
• Self-starter, can-do attitude a must in a fast-moving business and technical environment.
• Strong problem solving skills, time management and oral and written communication skills.
• 3+ years experience with MongoDB (or other NoSQL database) is preferred

The Application Engineering team within Audible Tech is looking for an experienced Software Engineer to build its next generation of software platform required to integrate and automate core business processes within Audible. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:

Basic Qualifications

· Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
· 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
· 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
· Able to write and enforce logical and maintainable code.
· Proven ability to identify and resolve the root cause of software defects.
· Experience with scripting languages (Perl/Ruby/Python, JavaScript, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

· Masters in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
· Computer Science fundamentals in Object oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving and complexity analysis.
· Communication skills – ability to think creatively and adapt the message to the audience.
· Deep Knowledge of distributed SOA, Web Services, Relational DB concepts, Elastic Search, DynamoDB and various AWS technologies.
· Full stack preferred with experience in Systems Integration.
· Expertise in one or more Object oriented language Java, Python or C++.
· A high-quality bar; just-enough documentation, unit testing, code reviews, test automation, continuous integration & deployment and a preference for agile methods.
· Developed batch and real-time systems integrations using Java, Python or any OO language.
· Understanding of networking concepts, Security and Encryption.
