Senior Informatics Manager

Applications are welcomed for a Senior Informatics Manager to join the Centre for Medical Discovery’s Research Informatics Small Research Facility (SRF). This is an exciting opportunity to take the lead in providing informatics and data management expertise in a world-leading institute. As Senior Informatics Manager, you will report to the Principal Investigator of Research Informatics. You will be responsible for the day to day management of the Research Informatics Small Research Facility (SRF) that provides informatics and data management services and expertise to the CMD and a wide range of local, national and international biomedical customers. You will identify, define and lead new projects within the RI SRF towards the overall aims of the CMD, as well as contributing to the ongoing development of the Research Informatics team’s strategic direction. You will be a recognised authority in data management as a data scientist, with a keen interest in rapidly providing integrated, technical and functional solutions to multi-disciplinary data management problems from basic science through to translational sciences in a drug discovery environment. You will have a PhD in a biological, mathematical, engineering or physical sciences subject, and have significant post-qualification research experience in informatics, data management or data science environments. You will possess sufficient specialist knowledge to develop novel methodologies and support research projects. You will have a strong ability to rapidly program in two or more of the following languages: Python, C++, R, HTML/JavaScript, and have experience in developing and supporting RDBMS platforms, including Oracle, PostgreSQL and MySQL at scale in a production environment. Above all, you will have the ability to lead and motivate a team of staff with diverse skillsets. This position is a fixed-term contract until 31 July 2023 and funding is provided by the department.
