The Web Developer will work with a team of information
technology (IT) professionals to provide IT technical services in
direct support of the scientific data collection program.

Job Requirements :

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support future web development and programming needs identified
    by the CNSS in collaboration with client staff
  • Design, develop, and maintain Data Management systems capable
    of accommodating scientific and business requirements and
    processes.
  • Develop program executables for processes related to the
    gathering and display of water data on the web.
  • Develop web services and Internet web mapping portal to display
    datasets.
  • Create and manage new mapping services for both public and
    in-house web maps.
  • Develop algorithms to merge and interpolate different types of
    data.
  • Manage existing web services by reviewing and revising outdated
    datasets.
  • Participate in IT related meetings and trainings.
  • Provide training to IT staff on completion of assigned projects
    / tasks.
  • Provide written documentation on completed projects /
    tasks.
  • Develop links between a database and map interface.
  • Develop algorithms to merge and interpolate different types of
    data.
  • Create data sets, publication quality map graphics, construct
    plots and graphs, illustrations, and other figures for display in a
    web environment.
  • Perform quality control / quality assurance methods on a
    monthly basis.
  • SUPERVISORY / MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

  • This position does not have management authority or supervisory
    capacity.
  • EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

  • B.S. in Computer Science preferred.
  • Amazon Web Services experience (Lambda, API Gateways, DynamoDB,
    S3, Serverless)
  • Experience with :
  • JavaScript
  • React / Redux (for front-end)
  • REST API (creating / consuming)
  • Proficient programming experience u sing :
  • PowerShell
  • Experience working with federal web accessibility
    guidelines.
  • Experience with data management concepts and methods; data
    management principles and technical documentation procedures;
  • communication methods and analytical methods enough to prepare
    instructions and update manuals.

  • Experience with software such as Adobe Dreamweaver, Microsoft
    Access and Internet browsers (IE and Chrome).
  • Familiar experience with Microsoft Word and Excel on a PC
    platform.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to take initiatives to improve our applications and to
    work independently.
  • Ability to learn and use new technologies as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills; both oral and written
  • Ability to successfully pass as drug screen & background
    check
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Office or teleworking environment. Travel for meetings may be
    needed.
