Senior DevOps Platform Delivery Engineer

MITRE’s Enterprise Computing, Information, and Security Center is seeking a Senior DevOps Platform Delivery Engineer. This position provides an exciting and challenging opportunity for a motivated technical candidate looking to be part of a collaborative team that operates and maintains a Kubernetes-based platform environment and develops DevOps pipelines for containerized applications. The candidate will also work closely with developers and enable them to continuously integrate and deploy their code on stable enterprise platforms, both on-premises and in the cloud.

Key Functions:

  • Deploy, manage, maintain, and operate container-based platform environments based on Docker and/or Kubernetes technologies.

  • Work with MITRE developers and product managers to create and optimize secure pipelines to deliver container-based business capabilities better, faster, and securely.

  • Work with other team members to help move our automation and DevOps practices forward to fundamentally change the way we currently deliver IT services.

  • Help provide static code analysis services to MITRE developers as part of their DevOps build pipelines.

  • Play a contributing role as we transition from an enterprise virtual environment on-premises to a hybrid cloud environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably with a technical major such as engineering, computer science, etc.

  • Hands-on experience with enterprise container technology, such as Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Rancher, etc.

  • Familiarity with container vulnerability scanning and remediation.

  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, workflows, and associated tools, such as Git, Bamboo, SonarQube, etc.

  • Familiarity with scripting and automation tools, including batch scripts, PowerShell, Chef, Ansible, Terraform or other similar tools.

  • Ability to adapt to technical change, to include a willingness to learn new technologies, processes, and tools.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift.

  • Experience with STIGs and system hardening through Group Policy and/or automation.

  • Experience leveraging cloud services and capabilities as part of an enterprise IT environment.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, reflecting the ability to provide constructive analytical feedback and recommendations to a variety of audiences.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to develop effective written technical and support documentation.

  • Software development skills using programming languages such as Python, Ruby, etc., with an interest in platform delivery automation.
