Pharmacy Technician Lead

In doing this, they want to make the customers’ access easier and smoother. They were founded by second generation Pharmacy owners in 2017. They saw an opportunity to improve retail pharmacies with technology and change the experience of pharmacy care. They have quickly grown from 4 to over 700 employees and currently have 10 brick and mortar locations. They have signed several new leases and are continuing to add new locations in other metropolitan areas all over the country!


The Carlisle Group has been retained to find an Rx Department Leader (Lead Pharmacy Technician) for their Somerville, NJ location. This role will lead our internal team of technicians, which is composed of experienced pharmacy technicians who handle all processes related to the production and adjudication of our patients’ prescriptions. The most successful candidate will have prior experience leading and training large teams of pharmacy technicians as well as strong knowledge of billing processes and procedures for both regular and specialty medications.


  • 5+ years of Pharmacy Technician experience in a high-volume retail or specialty environment
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience managing a team of a minimum of 5 Technicians and Assistants
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy compliance rules and regulations
  • Strong leadership and managerial skill set with demonstrated experience in working with a diverse group of associates at multiple levels
  • Exposure to pharmacy reconciliation processes (mostly with payors)
  • Experience billing commercial insurances, Medicare Part D, and Medicaid
  • EMR, PHI, HIPAA and FWA proficiency
  • Possess deductive skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task
  • Ability to demonstrate patience, composure, and a positive attitude


  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish
  • Experience working with pharmacy wholesalers is a plus! (McKesson, Kinray, etc.)
  • Experience working with delivery and/or mail-order pharmacies
Job Requirements

Position Summary:

  • Split and assign production and adjudication tasks daily, maximizing on individual strengths
  • Ensure all duties are completed on time and that KPIs (performance targets) are met
  • Ensure that pharmacy technicians are up to date with new protocols and procedures
  • Interview, hire and provide continuous training to your team of technicians
  • Improve, implement, and follow processes to ensure compliance with all pharmacy regulations
  • Lead by example and plug yourself in when the team needs extra support
  • Problem solves the day-to-day pharmacy issues communicated by leaders in other departments (i.e., customer service, delivery, sales, etc.)
  • Liaise with doctors to resolve issues related to insurance regulations and medication dispensing
