Business Development Manager (Remote)

We are searching for an experienced Business Development Manager for our Client, a well-known media company, and their Merchant Development team .As a member of this team, you will be working with some of the biggest brands in the world, as well as some of the newest trending brands just emerging. With a deep understanding of our diverse audience and long-term strategic initiatives, you will convey the unique value that we can provide to each brand that we want to work with. Part Business Development, part Strategic Partnerships, part Business Operations, this role will allow you to interface with a broad set of teams across the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive engagement with the top internet retailers and introduce them to the company commerce ecosystem
  • Foster ecommerce industry relationships across retail, affiliate marketing, and ecommerce platforms
  • Develop the merchant acquisition strategy and oversee onboarding and integration
  • Negotiate premium affiliate commission rates with merchants
  • Monitor merchant performance and work closely with internal teams to create growth opportunities Support editorial and merchandising teams
  • Aggregate and distribute deals and promotions from merchants to editorial partners
  • Pitch key deals and tentpole moments to editors and advocate for merchants
  • Source brands and retailers to support the merchandising strategies of various commerce properties Liaise between product and business teams to support merchant integrations into Verizon Media commerce experiences

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in Business Development, Strategic Partnerships, or B2B Sales
  • Subject matter expert in retail and ecommerce as well as affiliate marketing platforms and trends
  • Understand key commerce vertical industry trends, margins, and competitive affiliate commission rates
  • Experience and comfort in contract negotiations and legal documentation
  • Knowledge of ecommerce operations and multi-channel distribution strategies
  • Data driven analysis and business modeling to quantify partnership opportunities and inform business decisions
  • Comfortable analyzing large data sets and extracting actionable insights
  • Excellent communication – written and oral – with experience delivering to executive audience
  • Proactive and self-motivated with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities
