Olathe Health is looking for dedicated and caring professionals to join our system!  If you enjoy an environment of team oriented patient care and an excellent staff of co-workers, you have found the right place!  Miami County Medical Center, Inc, a 39-bed general acute care facility, is currently looking for a Medical Technologist professional to join our team.

Position Description:
Performs a variety of laboratory procedures in Hematology, Urinalysis, Chemistry, Blood Bank, Serology, Coagulation and Microbiology on specimens obtained from patients to provide information for diagnosing and combating disease.  Responsible for confirming the accuracy of test results, and reporting laboratory findings to pathologists and other physicians.  Performs specimen collections in all areas of the hospital and possibly via outreach services and health fairs.  Assist doctors and nurses in choosing the correct lab tests, assists with order entry and ensures proper collection methods are utilized.  Is at risk of exposure to blood born diseases, universal precautions required. Must have excellent customer service skills.  Certification required.

Position Requirements:
Education:
Required
4 Year / Bachelors Degree and educational requirements as required to become certified with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), National Credentialing Agency (NCA), or the American Medical Technologists (AMT).

2 Year / Associate Degree OR educational requirements as needed to become certified with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), National Credentialing Agency (NCA), the American Medical Technologists (AMT).

Other: OR must have completed an HEW approved school of Medical Technology or the successful completion of a United States Military Laboratory training program.  A minimum of 10 years hospital lab experience required with out certification.

Experience:
Required
Minimum of 5 years in a clinical laboratory field without a baccalaureate degree.

Preferred
Experience in a clinical hospital lab preferred.

Knowledge, Skills:
Ability to Multi Task and Prioritize 
Computer Systems - Windows based computer systems.

License, Registration and/or Certification:
Medical Technologist-MT(ASCP), or Medical Laboratory Scientist-MLS(ASCP) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist CLS(NCA) or Medical Technologist-MT(AMT), or ASCP Specialist Certification (SBB, SC, SH, or SM).

Those without a Bachelors degree must be certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician-MLT(ASCP), or Clinical Laboratory Technician-CLT(NCA), or Medical Laboratory Technician-MLT(AMT), or Clinical laboratory Technologist-CLT(HEW), or United States Military Laboratory training program Certificate of Completion, or certification eligible.  If certification is not acquired within the first 90 days, the incumbent will automatically be changed to a un-certified Medical Technologist.
