Ammonia Refrigeration Technician

$25-$30 / HOUR
Luxor Staffing is hiring Ammonia Refrigeration Techs at $25-30 per hour with 3rd shift available. Weekly pay, possible overtime, incentive and bonus programs, optional direct deposit, benefits from day 1 on the job and much more!

12 hour days

Rotating schedule- 3 on 2 off 4 on 3 off working every other weekend

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains ammonia cooling systems by creating and completing checklists, ensuring the cleanliness and safety compliance of the machines, performing proactive maintenance, working closely with mechanics, and keeping supervisors informed of system issues.
  • Proactively seeks methods of improving systems by communicating with other system technicians within and outside the company.
  • They also respond to any breakdowns, meaning they may need to be on call to conduct emergency repairs on other equipment in the plant including boilers, and food processing equipment.
  • These technicians must be able to perform physical tasks such as scaling tall buildings, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, and moving around refrigeration systems.
  • Ammonia refrigeration technicians must be able to work with a variety of individuals, including fellow technicians, supervisors, and clients.

  • Qualification Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • A minimum of five years of related experience and/or equivalent training.
  • Must be able to work on refrigeration equipment; screw compressors, ammonia pumps, Frick level controls, hot gas valve stations, IQF systems, ammonia detector calibrations.
  • RETA certification is desired.
  • 24 hours hazmat training is a plus.
  • Electrical motor control or PLC knowledge is highly desired.
  • Experience with PSM/RMP/ programs is a big plus.
  • Candidate needs to have good computer skills and knowledge of Word & Excel.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Must be able to handle multiple, conflicting priorities. Must be able to follow directions from a supervisor. Must be able to interact with coworkers. Must be able to understand and follow posted work rules and procedures. Must be able to accept constructive criticism.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. * The noise level in the work environment is often noisy.
  • Candidate must own hand tools.
  • Able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and over-time.
  • Confer with operators and observes, tests, and evaluates operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose cause of malfunction.
  • Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
  • Interface with state and federal government agencies as required.
  • Operate refrigeration, steam generation and all utility systems.
  • Perform daily chemical testing and logging all test results, making adjustments required to maintain refrigeration & utility system within established limits.
