Illinois Orthopedic Network, LLC ("ION") is seeking to hire a full-time Lab Assistant to meet the demands of our growing healthcare organization. The Lab Assistant will be responsible for specimen collection, including phlebotomy. The successful candidate will be able to learn quickly our testing systems for chemistry, hematology and toxicology. This position comes with a competitive starting rate of pay, $15.00 - $18.00 per hour based on education and years of experience. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A LAB ASSISTANT
As the Lab Assistant, you will assist in collecting specimen samples from clinic patients and pre-surgical patients. Once specimens are procured you will help with preparing the specimens for testing. An important part of your job will be ensuring lab orders are correct, label and specimens are accurate, uploading test results for physician review, cleaning work surfaces, maintaining quality standards and other duties as assigned. You love that you get to directly with the Lab Supervisor, who has been with the organization for 5 years. You are highly organized and detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills and a strong aptitude for great customer service.
Additionally, you will be responsible for various data entry and data administration tasks where attention to detail is a must. You're a team player who is willing to assist your coworkers and accepts other duties, as assigned. You ensure protocols laid out by the company are followed throughout the organization. You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where there is always something to do! And, you feel good about the part you play in making sure that all aspects of the lab process are completed timely and accurately.
- Associates degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology (Reqired)
- Past experience in Phlebotomy
- Certification is a plus
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with emphasis on phone presentation and customer service.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills with emphasis on Excel and Word
- Fluent in Spanish is a plus, both verbal and written communication
