Extruded Solutions is Hydro’s largest and most global business area. Our Business Area supplies aluminum profiles and profile-based solutions in various applications ranging from windows and furniture to cars and cruise ships. Within Extruded Solutions, we have business area staff functions based in Oslo, but we also have four core business units; Extrusion Europe, Extrusion North America, Building Systems and Precision Tubing.

Job Objective/Summary

This position requires moving material from plant to plant in our Portland area. The main responsibility will be driving a forklift/combi, to load the trucks, this is about 75 % of this position. Once the truck is loaded you will be driving to plants for delivery of materials. This will be an night/graveyard position that is Monday-Friday 9pm to 5am.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Drive company truck, delivering customer orders

  • Visually inspect loads for quality of product, correct packaging and correct identification tags

  • Observe all DOT and safety rules

  • Maintain a clean driving record

  • Be responsible for general condition of truck.

  • Ensure all logs are current and submitted monthly

  • Be forklift certified --Preferred

  • Assist in loading/unloading operations as needed

Key Requirements: 

Work Experience 

  • Must have CDL license

Education 

  • Highschool Diploma or GED equivalent

Functional/Technical Knowledge 

  • Thorough knowledge of truck operations

Skills 

  • Adaptable to change

  • Results oriented

  • Self-motivated and work with limited supervision

  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing effectively with supervisors, peers and subordinates

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, setting priorities and meeting deadlines

  • Demonstrate ability to work in and through teams, with all levels of the workforce

Health/Safety/Environmental/Housekeeping: 

  • Abides by company rules and policies and procedures.

  • Understands that performing job tasks in a safe manner is the highest priority.

  • Reports any unsafe condition or act immediately to Supervision or HSE Manager.

  • Fills out ‘Near Miss’ paperwork on any unsafe condition or act.

  • Participates in daily pre shift safety talk.

  • Understands company safety initiates and acts as facilitator on the floor to promote those initiatives.

  • May be asked to participate in accident/incident reviews and develop corrective actions.

  • Responsible for housekeeping and 5S in his or her respective area of work or areas as directed by the departmental supervisor.

  • Operates processing equipment necessary to handle waste and perform routine maintenance and housekeeping functions on plant structures and equipment.

  • Handles inbound and outbound hazardous material/waste shipments and process chemicals subject to written supervisory authorization.

  • Responsible for segregating, storing, and organizing hazardous materials/wastes on site according to Federal, State, & Municipal regulations.

  • Must be knowledgeable and capable of responding to emergency situations.
