Operations Asset Spec TL-FG

Forestar Group Inc. is a residential lot development company and a majority-owned subsidiary of D.R. Horton, Inc., the largest homebuilder by volume in the United States since 2002.

Forestar Group is currently looking for an Operations Asset Specialist Team Lead. The right candidate will Provide centralized support to Project and Investment Managers.  Coordinate closely with related analysts for all aspects of complex acquisitions and development projects.  The Operations Asset Specialist Team Lead will also assist with oversight and guidance for the Real Estate Services team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Provide guidance and oversight to a team of Operation Asset Specialists I & II

• Train and coordinate cross training as needed, to ensure adequate support coverage for assigned projects

• Assign, direct work and coordinate special projects among the team

• Analyze and convey real estate development and property operation for the projects assigned

• Research, collect and review data on properties including title policies, deeds, tax records, environmental reports and HOA by-laws and covenants

• Participate in contract administration including setting up and maintaining standardized files and purchase orders in JDE

• Request and verify draws and funding requests

• Generate data entry for project information and assist in maintaining lot detail information

• Secure and maintain filing of required documents for acquisition, development and management of assigned project

• Prepare check requests for various permits, fees and other acquisition or development related services

• Process documentation for lot and sale closings

• Participate in property tax management

• Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company

• Ability to work overtime

• Assist vendors

• Coordinate with related analyst to ensure that contract and direct pay invoices are coded accurately and as budgeted

• Verify budget updates

• Provide assistance regarding HOA documents and HOA issues

• Assist in property operation functions as assigned by the Asset Manager

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Two to three years of real estate related experience
  • Accounting background and proficiency in basic accounting skills
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral form or via DRH and Forestar applications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and email
  • Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, color vision and peripheral vision.
  • The noise level is generally moderate

Preferred Qualifications

  • JDE experience and/or the ability to learn and adapt to new software applications with direction and training
