Executive Account Manager (textiles)

This position is part of the Global Supply Chain Marketing team of Cotton Incorporated that works with manufacturers, brands, and retailers to promote the use of cotton in apparel, home textiles, and other products. The position works at tactical and strategic levels to develop creative marketing approaches, promote cotton technologies, fabrics, and implement a wide variety of marketing programs. This position will be based in Cary, North Carolina although remote work locations in the Pacific Northwest or midwestern United States may be considered.

Job Requirements

Core Functions:

• Identify strategic marketing opportunities with key accounts and develop strategies to influence product decisions toward the use of cotton

• Develop effective strategic and tactical marketing programs

• Identify, research, contact, and report on new accounts that could generate opportunities for cotton usage

• Coordinate and provide company-wide resources and services in support of account needs

• Represent Cotton Incorporated at client meetings, industry events, and tradeshows

• Identify market threats and opportunities and communicate those challenges to division management as well as take actions toward development of marketing or product solutions

• Maintain timely records and reports regarding account interaction

• Stay abreast of and report on changes that occur organizationally and strategically with accounts

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Textiles, Textile Management, Apparel Management, Marketing, or closely related field

• Master’s degree in Textiles or MBA, a plus

• Minimum 8 years’ experience in textiles or apparel marketing, apparel sourcing, apparel product development or closed related responsibility at a corporate level (not retail store only)

• Sales or marketing experience strongly preferred

• Experience presenting to diverse audiences

• Strong interpersonal skills and professional enthusiasm, with a customer service focus

• Knowledge of textiles, apparel, or home products markets

• Understanding of the textile manufacturing/sourcing supply chain

• Ability to identify and prioritize strategic opportunities with customers and accomplish defined goals

• Ability to develop and formulate creative marketing approaches to working with clients

• Ability to create and conduct professional presentations to a wide variety of audiences

• Ability to speak confidently and effectively at industry functions

• Excellent, professional written and verbal communication skills

• Motivated self-starter (high initiative), creative energy, and team player

• Proficiency in Microsoft™ Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint®, Word® and Excel®

• This position requires domestic and international travel up to approximately 30% of the time (travel may span 1-2 weeks per occasion)

Working Conditions / Physical Demands: 

• General office environment with quiet to moderate noise level

• Varied working conditions off-site due to travel

• Business casual dress clothes required

• Regularly required to sit and use hands to type and grasp, with frequent standing, walking, and bending/twisting at the neck/waist

• Occasionally required to push, pull, and reach above/below shoulder level

• Frequently required to lift of exert force (up to 50 pounds) 25-50% of the time (primarily related to carrying sample bags when traveling or lifting items at trade shows)

• Frequently required to have face-to-face, video and telephone interaction with internal staff and external contacts
