Mobile Application Engineer (Kotlin / Android)

The Opportunity

The candidate will contribute to the development of the Alfi Tablet, Kiosk and IoT device applications. You will help shape and develop the Android service ecosystem which includes Kotlin components that collect and send telemetry and images to the back end, host machine learning models running on the edge, and establish the platform for hosting the Alfi front end applications which are written in React and React Native. You will work as an integral part of the Alfi engineering team.

The Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, tested, secure and documented customer-centric solutions
  • Implement and maintain an MDM for registering devices and deploying software updates
  • Implement, test and deploy the Alfi Android ecosystem (Java/Kotlin)
  • Test and deploy the Alfi front end apps on the Android platform (React/React Native)
  • Learn to automate deployments through an existing CI/CD delivery process
  • Responsible for troubleshooting all issues that prevent Alfi Android apps from running 24/7 on registered devices

The Requirements

  • 3+ years developing Mobile Apps on Android
  • 1+ years of experience building Android apps written in Kotlin
  • Demonstrable knowledge of React Native app development
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Software development or equivalent experience
  • Must work in the Downtown Denver office

The Bonuses

  • Familiar with Agile/SCRUM
  • Demonstrable Experience in deploying Android Apps to production
  • Knowledge of UI/UX concepts
  • Experience with IoT, Authentication, Smart Cities technologies
  • Strong plus: JavaScript/hybrid frameworks (React/Angular/React Native/Ionic/Electron), C/C++, ML & AI at the Edge
